Another one down: Djibril Sidibe joins Monaco

A sort-of-maybe Arsenal target lands elsewhere

In this window, there have never really been, like, super-serious links between Arsenal and Djibril Sidibe - L’Equipe said yesterday that Arsenal were trying to hijack the player’s rumored move to Monaco, but that was about the only mention of said player coming to north London this summer.

Well, either that story was false or Arsenal are really bad at hijacking, because today, Sidibe joined Monaco, signing a five year contract. I can’t say I’m terribly upset by this - I always dislike when Arsenal miss out on a player, but defenders aren’t really Arsenal’s biggest need at the moment, so I hope he has a lovely time at Monaco and I hope Arsenal keep working those transfer phones or whatever mechanism kids these days use to do transfers.
