We wrote about it last week, and we’re happy to be able to write about it again this week: Aaron Ramsey has been awarded the Man of the Match award for his work in an otherwise not-enthralling game against Northern Ireland:

In a match that was more hard work and industry than flair and style, Ramsey put the ball in the net in the 20th minute, only to be whistled for a correct offside call. He was instrumental in most of Wales’ attack, and that industry paid off in the 74th minute when his cross, intended for Hal-Robson Kanu, was directed into the goal by Northern Ireland’s Gareth McAuley.
Own goals are a terrible way to lose a game, but it would have been a shame to see the magnificent effort of Aaron Ramsey wasted, so a 1-0 seemed a fair result. Wales will now go on to face the winner of tomorrow’s Hungary/Belgium game, and I hope that Aaron keeps up his fantastic form in that game as well.
