Danny Welbeck Injured vs Manchester City

well this isn't good.

Being handed the start in the midfield, replacing the injured Mesut Ozil, was precisely the reward Danny Welbeck deserved after potting the winner against Norwich. But after a bright start, Danny Welbeck left the game on an apparent knee injury.

Chasing down former Gunner Bacary Sagna in the 20th minute, Welbeck went in for a challenge and then had his knee twist in a way no knee should. After treatment and attempt to run it off, Welbeck subbed himself out of the game looking visably upset at the situation. It is an injury to his left knee, where it was injury to his right knee that kept him out of the team for six months, a spell lengthened by surgery back in September.

Hopefully this is not a major re-injury for, while Arsenal's season is pretty much done and dusted, Welbeck looked to feature in England's squad in France this summer. A difficult pill to swallow when it looked like Welbeck had gotten back on track.

He was replaced by Jack Wilshere.

UPDATE

Welbeck will have a scan on his knee tomorrow. There is concern that he has suffered a meniscus tear. This injury is to his right knee; his left was injured last season.
