Despite Arsenal's usual crash out in the UEFA Champions League Round of Sixteen, we know that lots of folks will still be paying attention. Maybe they're rooting for upsets, maybe they have favorite players for other teams that they want to keep an eye on, or maybe they just enjoy the drama and magic of enormous, mega-spending teams usually defeating smaller teams so it's the same ~4 teams or so in the hunt for the final every year. BUT MAYBE NOT THIS YEAR!
The fixtures finishing today are those between England's Manchester City and France's Paris Saint Germaine; and between Spain's Real Madrid and Germany's Wolfsburg. Both of the first-round results were somewhat surprising, at least to this casual observer of most of these teams.
Manchester City, playing away at the Parc des Princes in Paris's 16th arrondissement, managed to grab two crucial away goals in a 2-2 draw against Paris Saint Germaine. Today, the teams will show down at the Etihad in Manchester to decide the fate of the tie.
Meanwhile, Wolfsburg capitalized on its home leg against Real Madrid, snuffing out the attacking threat of Los Blancos while managing to score two. One would think that an away goal for Wolfsburg at the Bernebeu today would put the tie out of reach for Real Madrid, but a team with that firepower can never be truly counted out.
The matches are today at 2:45pm ET, both on Fox Sports - City and PSG will be featured on Fox Sports 1 while Real Madrid and Wolfsburg have been slotted on Fox Sports 2. Bad announcing is guaranteed.
Can City and Wolfsburg hold on, or will PSG and Real Madrid come storming back? Come hang out and let's find out together.
