Arsenal will host Watford this weekend in the 6th round of the FA Cup after beating Hull City 4-0 in a replay. More worryingly for Arsenal, who won for the first time in 5, Per Mertesacker, Gabriel and Aaron Ramsey were lost to injury, as the Gunners finished with a makeshift back four and midfield.
It was a quiet first half. Arsenal, with a heavilty rotated team, created very little as in recent fixtures, and David Ospina made a smart save. A David Meyler backpass fell to Olivier Giroud, who tucked his finish away for his first goal in 9. He celebrated not only his goal, but the birth of his second child.
A clash of heads saw Mertesacker go off, and be replaced by Nacho Monreal, who went to centre back. In the second half, Arsenal then lost Gabriel, necessitating Aaron Ramsey coming on, Mathieu Flamini to right back, and Calum Chambers to right back. Ramsey would only play for a short time, as he would succomb to injury as Arsenal scored their second.
Arsenal's second saw a heretofore disappointing Walcott cross for Giroud, who volleyed first time with his right-foot to seal the tie. Minutes later it was three: A Campbell through ball was tucked away calmly by Walcott, who added a fourth in stoppage time, with his shot taking a nick off of Alex Bruce and beating the Hull keeper at his near post.
