We're right back to league action tomorrow, after a quick turnaround from Saturday's 2-1 win in the Cup. Southampton are tomorrow's visitors, fresh on the heels of a weekend off thanks to no longer being in said Cup; their last match was a tidy little 1-0 win against Manchester United on the 23rd, so they'll be well rested and ready to take the game to Arsenal.
Arsenal, of course, came through the weekend fine, with one exception - Tomas Rosicky apparently tore a thigh muscle and will be out for several weeks. And, at 35 with an expiring contract in May, it's not unreasonable to think we've seen the last of poor Tomas, who just couldn't stay healthy.
Southampton are currently eighth in the table, three points out of the European places, and they'll come to the Emirates looking to extend their three game winning streak, as well as their run of 12 points in six games, that has seen them revive that European challenge after a flat start to their season. Ronald Koeman has tinkered a bit with formations and lineups, but he seems to have found one that works, and the addition of Charlie Austin to a team that is already playing well and with confidence could mean a nervy evening at the Emirates.
A fully rested Alexis looked pretty solid at the weekend, and new boy Mohamed Elneny also impressed; if Arsenal can sort out their defensive wobbles, this should be a winnable game for them. So, y'know, sort them out, please.
