RIP Alan Pardew.
This game would have been a lot more fun had Crystal Palace not pulled the plug on the Pards Era. Instead, we get to face off against Sam Allardyce’s Crystal Palace. Less dance-y, more bung-y (allegedly!!!).
The Eagles currently sit in 17th place, two points out of the relegation zone one game before the halfway mark of the season. Arsenal are in 4th and need a win to continue to keep their slim title hopes alive.
When:
Sunday, January 1, 2017
8AM PT/11AM ET/4PM BT
Where:
Emirates Stadium, London
Importance:
As of the time of publishing of this post, Chelsea and Manchester United both earned all three points in Premier League action on this Matchday. Liverpool and Manchester City are currently playing in an important matchup with title implications. If Arsenal want to keep up the pace, they need to win all 3 points at home against a struggling Crystal Palace side.
Player News:
Shkodran Mustafi is back! Kieran Gibbs is out after coming off injured in the Boxing Day match against West Bromwich Albion. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Theo Walcott are both unavailable tomorrow. Danny Welbeck has been in full training for a week now, but it would be mildly shocking if he made the first-team bench tomorrow.
Probable starters:
There’s really no telling. With another league matchup in an unfathomable two days, there will certainly be rotation in one of the two matches. Maybe a little bit of rotation in both!
