Despite numerous outlets claiming that Arsenal would be in for Julian Draxler this January (and in many past windows!) at the behest of German playmaker Mesut Ozil, it seems that saga can finally come to a close, as Draxler has agreed to join French giants Paris St-Germain, according to the BBC.
I’m all for doing anything and everything to make Mesut Ozil happy - heck, I’d even have made Flamini the janitor or something so that they could bro it up together - but I don’t think a move for Draxler, which reportedly cost PSG somewhere in the neighborhood of £35.75 million, was necessary. Of course I’d have been happy to add a great player, but with the emergence of Alex Iwobi, the progress of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and the looming return of Danny “Dat Guy Welbz” Welbeck, it just doesn’t feel like a real position of need at the current moment.
I’m sure we’ll start being linked to Draxler again soon, but for now, this story is over. Don’t worry, though, there’s plenty of crap to shovel with the January window opening in just a few days.
