Despite the encouragement of international teammate Laurent Koscielny, Antoine Griezmann has no intention of leaving Atletico Madrid for Arsenal. Speaking to France Football, the 25-year old said “[Koscielny] speaks to me about it often. But I'm good in Madrid. I don't want to leave. I'm happy here.”
It is not just Arsenal that Griezmann denied having interest in joining, as the Frenchman categorically denied having any intention of leaving Atletico Madrid for anyone, be it Real Madrid or Manchester United or Paris St. Germain. And with Griezmann under contract until 2021, with a large buyout clause, he will seemingly only leave Atletico if he wants to, which at the moment, appears to be unlikely.
Despite Atleti’s struggles in the league, the side are still well-placed in the Champions League, having been runners-up last season, with Griezmann missing a penalty in the final. If Diego Simeone were to leave Atleti and the team were to break up, Griezmann’s position might change, but for now, it seems that no other club will profit from his superb goal-scoring services.
