Team News: Ramsey, Welbeck not quite back

Sounds like both will miss the Man City match

It looks like Arsenal will not be getting much of a health boost this weekend as the Gunners head to Manchester City for one of the biggest matches of the season.

“For the City game we should have approximately the same squad who went to Everton. Nobody's back - [Aaron] Ramsey’s not back,” Arsène Wenger said on the official team website.

Which is a bit concerning, as this Arsenal squad hasn’t been rotated much, and the team looked tired during Tuesday’s loss at Everton.

Looking beyond this weekend, however, the news does get a bit better. Wenger says Ramsey is pretty close to returning, and that he believes Ramsey will be able to resume normal training with the squad next week. Hopefully Ramsey can get healthy and back on the pitch soon and we can finally see the Ramsey-Xhaka midfield pairing with some regularity.

In addition to Ramsey, striker Danny Welbeck is also one week away from full training. But Wenger cautions, “ . . . of course it will take some time [for him to be fully fit] because he hasn’t played for a long, long time.”
