Arsenal club secretary David Miles was recently asked about THE hot news topic of the season so far, contract extensions for Arsenal stars Mesut Özil and Alexis Sánchez, per Arseblog.
“Of course, we know talks are ongoing with certain players and certain contracts,” Miles said. “At the moment, things are looking pretty good in that way.”
So, good news! Granted, I’m not sure exactly what “looking pretty good” means, but given how many rumors of the duo’s imminent departure tend to pop up, that quote is a good excuse to take Monty Python’s advice and look on the bright side of life.
Özil and Sanchez are not only the club’s top two attacking players, but also symbols of Arsenal’s post-stadium debt era. Locking the pair down long term would be a good sign the club can now compete among the financial big boys of world soccer.
In other Arsenal contract news, the French trio of Olivier Giroud, Laurent Koscielny and Francis Coquelin all just signed contract extensions.
