It’s an interesting look at a player at a crossroads

Sky Sports published a long, interesting interview with former Arsenal wunderkind Jack Wilshere today.

Wilshere makes it pretty clear in the interview that his injuries during the past two years have taken an emotional toll, saying, “Two years of injuries, of coming back, of trying to get fit and not getting in the team and then picking up another injury and missing too much football. Let's just erase the last two years and start again.”

Wilshere sounds happy for a fresh start now at Bournemouth, and went so far as to say that he is enjoying playing soccer again.

On the subject of this past weekend’s match between Arsenal and Bournemouth, Wilshere remarked, “I said to one of the staff before the game 'I feel awkward here'. It was the same when I was watching the game,” which is pretty understandable.

And looking ahead towards his career’s future, Wilshere said he wants to play well enough for Arsenal to offer him a new contract, but, “At the moment, I'm taking each game as it comes . . . We'll see what happens after that.”
