There was a lot that went wrong on Saturday, I think we can all agree on that. And a lot went wrong all over the pitch - midfield, defense, attack, and probably the half time orange slice distribution as well. One Arsenal player is being extra-harsh on himself today, though.
Theo Walcott admitted that his positioning on Juan Mata’s goal wasn’t great:
"I'm just disappointed because my positioning on the goal was disappointing from my side of it," Walcott told Sky Sports. “Because defensively I want to (cover that). I've been doing that all season.”
While Olivier Giroud rescued the point and turned an awful morning into a painfully mediocre morning, it’s refreshing to hear an honest assessment of fault from a player. Not that they usually deny being culpable; it’s just that so often post-game remarks are all cliche and pat answers that it’s kind of nice to hear someone say “hey my bad”, even though his wasn’t the worst performance of the day.
