Good news! We now know just who to direct our blame and ire towards if Arsenal loses their crucial north London derby on Sunday.
According to the Daily Mirror, Mark Clattenburg will be refereeing the home match against Tottenham Hotspur.
Clattenburg most recently refereed Manchester United’s draw with Burnley, in which he sent Jose Mourinho to the stands, which isn’t really that relevant to Arsenal but absolutely delightful nonetheless. Afterwards, Mourinho waited for Clattenburg in the tunnel and then went on a tirade against the referee, action that could result in a touchline ban for Mourinho, which is even more delightful AND relevant because he could miss the Arsenal match.
But enough about Mourinho. The Mirror notes that this will be the fifth time Clattenburg has refereed a match between Arsenal and Tottenham, with the two clubs having a pair of wins each.
Hopefully that balance will shift to Arsenal’s favor this Sunday as they look to put some distance on the table between themselves and their rivals/fellow title contenders.
