Arsenal center-back and current captain Laurent Koscielny will sign a contract extension next week, according to France-based soccer writer Matt Spiro. His new deal is set to run until 2020.
Koscielny has been an Arsenal staple for a while now thanks to his play and leadership qualities, and has already formed a great partnership with recent signing Shkodran Mustafi, so this is certainly welcome news.
One interesting tidbit, per Spiro, is that if Koscielny stays through the end of this deal, he would apparently become Arsenal’s longest serving French player. He originally joined the club back in 2010, and would be 35 when his contract ends.
Anyway, congrats to Koscienly on a much-deserved new deal. Hopefully he will celebrate his new deal with another ridiculous goal against Manchester United this weekend.
In other contract extension news, Arsenal is negotiating with Mesut Özil and Alexis Sánchez. Hopefully the club can get both of those taken care of soon.
