Sound the transfer rumor alarm! A report has surfaced from Sport Witness that Arsenal has been in pursuit of 22-year-old Torino and Italian national team striker Andrea Belotti.
According to the report, Arsene Wenger was “ready to spend €35 million” on the young striker. However, Sport Witness says, “The Serie A club are said to value the youngster ‘well beyond’ €40m, with [Gazzetta dello Sport] estimating his value standing at around €60m in today’s market, making him a very difficult target for anyone interested.”
Meanwhile, given how well Alexis Sánchez has played in the role this season, Arsenal would appear to have the best striker situation they’ve had in some time. Unless, of course, the club were to fail to come to terms on a contract extension with Alexis.
Belotti has certainly been in impressive form recently, notching eight goals and three assists in 10 Serie A appearances this season. Combine that with his young age and it’s no wonder that he is getting plenty of interest, with the report also noting that West Ham made an offer for Belotti.
