Is Man U targeting Mesut Özil?

Ok, probably not.

First of all, take a few deep breaths.

Ok, so a recent report by the Sun says that Manchester United is planning on bidding for Arsenal star Mesut Özil, whose contract is set to end in 2018 and has been in extension talks with the club.

First of all, the Sun is a tabloid, and any report from it should be taken with a grain of salt.

Furthermore, there is no indication as of yet that talks with Özil have broken down or are going all that poorly.

Lastly, should the worst happen and the club does decide to sell Özil, Arsenal will have an endless supply of suitors. There is no way Wenger would sell one of his stars to a Premier League rival, let alone to Jose Mourinho.

Even the Sun notes, “The Special One suspects there is only a remote prospect of landing him.”

So, to steal from a slogan I saw everywhere during my semester abroad in London, keep calm and re-watch that Özil goal against Ludogorets.
