Mauricio Pochettino refused to rule out the possibility that Harry Kane could return to face Arsenal in Sunday’s North London Derby, even if he won’t feature in Tottenham’s UCL matchup against Bayer Leverkusen on Wednesday.
“Sunday? Maybe, maybe,” he said. “He made half the training session with the team (on Tuesday). Then it was a specific training session for him. We expect maybe Thursday Harry will do full training. It will be good for him to start to train or to be involved in the whole session with the group.”
Kane has been sidelined with ligament damage since September, and Spurs have struggled to fire offensively without him. Since his injury, Tottenham have only managed to put more than one goal past a league opponent on two occasions.
Of course, it’s always possible Pochettino just wants to spook the Gunners with ghosts of derbies past. Kane has scored in each of the last two meetings between Arsenal and Spurs, so ideally he’ll watch his team’s unbeaten streak come crashing down from the bench.
