Former Arsenal star Thierry Henry, who probably knows a thing or two about playing striker and winning trophies, believes that the Gunners can win a title with Olivier Giroud playing the super-sub role, according to the Daily Mirror.
Giroud certainly played well in the super-sub role in this past weekend’s match at Sunderland, scoring two goals off the bench.
Henry notes, “He is amazing in the air and that gives you another option,” and recalls that many Premier League winning teams have had a similar off the bench option.
Henry did express concern that Giroud would not be happy coming off the bench. But with Arsenal playing so well as Alexis Sanchez has adapted to the main striker role, Giroud may not have much of a choice.
Fortunately, the Mirror quotes Giroud as saying, “We have a very good team cohesion. I'm not questioning myself too much about my place. I'm focused on the team.”
Well, it’s nice to know Giroud is as selfless as he is pretty.
