It might be a serious one.

According to a report by The Independent, Arsenal striker Chuba Akpom is dealing with a suspected stress fracture and could be sidelined for lengthy period of time.

Per The Independent:

The 21-year-old striker is out with a back injury, suspected to be a stress fracture. It is thought to be a long-term problem, which will keep Akpom out until the new year.

Though he started in Arsenal’s last EFL match, Akpom hasn’t made a regular season appearance yet but his absence hasn’t been noticed much given the form of Alexis Sanchez as the leading man, coupled with Lucas Perez chipping in at times. Akpom was never likely to get substantial minutes in this Arsenal squad, barring injury to a teammate, but he’s still a promising youngster and a severe back injury is certainly a massive setback for both player and club.

Akpom spent last season on loan at Hull City where his performances were mixed. Hopefully he’ll have a speedy and successful recovery before kicking on in the second half of the season.
