When the lineups were released today for the match at Turf Moor against Burnley, the only real surprise was that summer signing Lucas Pérez did not even make the bench. Obviously, speculation quickly followed, which was even more quickly followed by an explanation for the absence by the Arsenal dot com Twitter account:

The striker has only started two matches so far for the Gunners as Alexis Sánchez has been given the opportunity to make the no. 9 position his own. After an impressive performance against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup, many Arsenal fans have been hoping for more action for the Spaniard, but, regardless of his injury,Arsène Wenger appears to be set on allowing his top XI time to bed.
Here’s to hoping that Lucas has a quick recovery. As he is not a Spanish international, he has the entire international break at London Colney to recover from his knock. Get well soon, Lucas!
