Hooray! It's finally here! The start of the Premier League season! After a long summer of waiting and anticipation, the season kicks off today with the opening match being against....what? Oh. Right. Shit.
As much as we'd all love to pretend last week didn't happen, it did. The season has started, and Arsenal, after one game, are relegation fodder. But this is why the table is irrelevant right now - seriously, it's irrelevant. Leicester are in the lead and Crystal Palace are in third. Will that last? Do you really need to ask?
Arsenal will be fine. The ship will be righted. That process starts this week, with a visit straight south, as the crow flies, to Selhurst Park, to face a Crystal Palace team who are fresh off a 3-1 opening day win at Norwich. Yanick Bolasie is expected to be available for selection following his absence with a case of Being Wanted By Real Madrid, with the winger also expected to stay in London at this point.
Arsenal welcome back Hector Bellerin and Alexis Sanchez into a side that desperately needed at least one and probably both last weekend; Sanchez brings a life to the side that was sorely missing, and Bellerin provides the stability to bring that life out.
Three points, and the season can start properly.
