Yesterday, the draw for the second round of the Capital One Cup happened. Since Arsenal were able to maintain their Top 4 trophy for yet another season, they were not involved in the draw. In America, they call that a bye. They probably call it the same in the UK.
Anyways, just because Arsenal are not involved in the next round of cup proceedings does not mean that Arsenal fans should not be interested in the draw. As it happens, all of Arsenal's UK-based loanees have a chance to be involved in the second round.
The juiciest match-up is Daniel Crowley and Barnsley against 2013 #WengerOut favorite Roberto Martinez and Everton. The young English attacker will surely be itching to show how he can perform against top opposition.
Chuba Akpom and Isaac Hayden, fresh off Hull City's dramatic penalty shoot out win against Accrington Stanley, are set to face off against League One Rochdale.
Serge Gnabry and West Bromich Albion will be playing Port Vale, which may or may not be a made-up team from Game of Thrones. Jon Toral's Birmingham City get Gillingham. Emiliano "Don't Call Me Damian" Martinez and Wolves got a favorable draw, against League Two side and former Arsenal pre-season punching bag Barnet.
These matches will be played on the week of August 24th, so keep your eyes on beIN Sport, who owns the Capital One Cup TV rights in the US, if you want to see Arsenal's loanees in action.
