Daniel Crowley Loaned to Barnsley

The loan exodus continues!

For the third time in two days, news of an Arsenal prospect being loaned out has broken. This time, it's young attacker Daniel Crowley who is on his way to Barnsley on a six month loan. There had been rumors that Peterborough United were the leaders in the hunt to obtain his services, but clearly Barnsley beat them to the punch.

Crowley was a U-21 mainstay for Arsenal last season on a squad that struggled to live up to the hype of its prospects. He also featured in the club's Singapore tour, but missed out on making the Emirates Cup roster. One would hope that Arsene Wenger placed him in this situation to maximize his playing time in League One to continue the young Englishman's development. While he is already an expert free kick taker and dribbler, he often lacks in decision-making. Hopefully, some of the selfishness in Crowley's game, which is only furthered by the pick-up game feel of U-21 matches, will fade away in a more structured team environment.

While the fact Crowley was sent to League One may raise some eyebrows, he still is only 17 and can have a bright future at the club.

We here at The Short Fuse wish Daniel all the best in his next six months at Barnsley.
