1-0 Chuba Akpom (29)
2-0 Jack Wilshere (60 pen)
3-0 Akpom (75 pen)
4-0 Akpom (80)
Chuba Akpom netted a hat trick in their first match of the Barclays Asia Trophy preseason exhibition, at Singapore National Stadium, and along with a Jack Wilshere penalty -- following a dubious penalty call, thanks to a Mathieu Debuchy dive -- Arsene Wenger's side comfortably dispatched hosts Singapore Select XI to the tune of four goals to nil.
Many of Arsenal's regular first-team players were rested for today's match, allowing for some of the club's younger players, such as Emiliano Martinez, Alex Iwobe, and the aforementioned Akpom to get a starting nod.
Grains of salt to be taken due to the opponent and nature of the match, of course, but all in all you couldn't expect any more from the players today. The final score could have easily been higher had there not been a few standout saves from Singapore Select's keeper Izwan Mahbud, and the youth seemed to integrate themselves quite nicely among their more experienced veteran teammates.
Arsenal now advance to Saturday's final versus Everton, who escaped with a 5-4 victory on penalties over Stoke City.
