Arsenal Youth GIF Highlight Roundup Vol. 6 - We're Back!

You were probably praying that this series had been cancelled. Nope, I'm just lazy.

After a long hiatus, Arsenal Youth GIFs are back. I apologize to my loyal fans for making you wait this long to see clips of Arsenal Youth action in animated images. If you have forgotten the premise of this series, here's a quick reminder: it's a generally light-hearted look at the pithy highlights Arsenal provides us of their youth teams. (NOTE: The U18s have not won since mid-December so I spared us all the horror and shame and acted like those 2 months do not exist. This is a U21 highlight reel only.)

Without further adieu, let's dive right in.

BRIGHTON (A)

Poor Brighton, as you soon shall see, was hammered by our Young Gunners and it all started with this left-footed wonder goal from Glen Kamara. I suppose new AMERICAN Gedion Zelalem gets an assist for this (not sure how much he intended that touch) but holy cow did Kamara have everything to do and then some. Arsene frequently talks about how having ability with your weaker foot is key to playing central midfield. Kamara sure showed some ability there.

This U21 side loves doing short corner routines and you must say, this one worked to perfection. Great ball in by Zelalem to Daniel Crowley who tees up the newly extended Chuba Akpom for as easy a goal as he will ever score.

Another corner routine from Arsenal leads to another chance, again for Akpom, but this one is skied over the bar.

Tyrell Robinson, playing out of position at left back, hits a beautiful long ball to Akpom who finishes in the cheekiest way possible. Carlos Vela himself would be proud of that one.

A beautiful move and a beautiful miss by Ainsley Maitland-Niles.

Excellent through-ball in by Alex Iwobi, only to have Akpom drag his shot wide and raise his shorts to Alexis-length in disgust.

Akpom earns a PK and converts the PK for a hat trick. Easy win with a nice cherry on top.

BOLTON

Well, that...is not a good way to start. Seems like too simple a goal to allow, but who am I to judge? Oh wait, I'm writing on the internet right now, so OF COURSE I am going to judge.

Akpom has a nice run here to break free, but unfortunately weakly scuffs his left-footed shot straight at the Bolton goalie.

Another corner routine! Another goal off of a corner routine! Hurrah! Stefan O'Connor heads home after Akpom plays in a dangerous cross.

Iwobi plays Akpom in but, once again, the young striker cannot find the back of the net with his left boot. Or the ball.

Akpom puts in the back of the net woooooo oh dangit, it was offsides. Just not his day.

Bolton scored two goals late as Arsenal pushed for the winner, then Akpom missed another chance. I'll spare you the disappointment and move on.

WOLVES

This GIF highlight edition has had some highs and lows for Akpom. Here, he held the O button just a tad too long.

Crowley with a delicious through-ball and...Akpom, well. Yeah.

Another goal off a corner! How many times does it have to occur in one GIF highlight roundup for it to become A Thing?

Imagine how good Crowley's FKs would be if there was foam spray keeping the defensive wall back?

Iliev Ospinas it right to a Wolves player who buries it to make it 2-1.

Incredible miss from Wolves here. Though I'll give him a pass because the goalmouth looks like it's preparing to host a Tough Mudder.

This goal is babytown frolics, and a good indication of why we have been trying to give Semi Ajayi away for the last month.

Nothing to see here.

This would have been a very Arsenal-y way to lose a match, but somehow Wolves do not convert. Incredible defending there, lads.
