Arsene Wenger met with the press ahead of this weekend's match against Sunderland and took time to share some positive news on the injury front. Yes, that's right, good injury news!
After a short absence, Kieran Gibbs will be available to play this weekend. The manager also mentioned that both Laurent Koscielny and Theo Walcott are possibilities to make the squad, but that the decision to include them will not be made until match day.
After the ugly injury which forced Koscielny off against Norwich City, it would be a big boost to have him avoid missing match time. It sounds like he will not start, even if declared fit, so look for Gabriel to get a start.
Walcott has not featured for the Gunners since the Capital One Cup injury-fest against Sheffield Wednesday and would be a welcome addition to a depleted attacking squad. If nothing else, having him in the squad next week, when we have to go to Athens and pummel Olympiakos to advance into the knockout rounds of the Champions League, would add a glimmer of hope to a wildly depressing last few weeks for Arsenal.
