Gedion Zelalem to stay with Rangers for remainder of season

The American teenager has impressed since going to Scotland.

American youth international and Arsenal prospect Gedion Zelalem will stay on loan at Rangers until the end of the season, according to manager Mark Warburton. He joined the second-division Scottish team on loan this August and was initially only slated to stay into January, but evidently he impressed Warburton enough to prompt the Rangers boss to ask Arsenal for his services for a few months more.

We here at The Short Fuse had some initial misgivings over the move, and while good performances don't really answer the questions that we asked at the time, they're certainly better than the alternative. Zelalem has done well in Scotland, with three assists in eleven appearances in the league, along with three more in two Scottish League Cup matches. He has certainly answered the call when he's had the opportunity, and the fans seem to like him. So overall, I guess this loan is going about as well as you could hope for – and hopefully Zelalem is building some interest from higher level teams for next season, at the very least.
