David Ornstein has reported that Arsenal are in talks with Basel to complete the signing of Basel midfielder Mohamed Elneny. Elneny has been linked with a move in the region of £5m since last week, with the story gathering pace over the past few days. With the story now reaching Ornstein, it is likely that the move will soon be complete -- Arsenal rarely give Ornstein information that the club doesn't want released.

Elneny would require a work permit, but as he has played in 88% of Egypt's international matches over the past two seasons, and has played in Switzerland since January 2013, a work permit should be easily attainable.
Elneny is also eligible for the Champions League, as Basel were knocked out before the group stage of the competition.
