Arsenal have confirmed the signing of 17-year old Polish midfielder Krystian Bielik from Legia Warsaw. Bielik, whose name amusingly translate on Google Translate as "Bald Eagle", is a defensive midfielder who can also play at centre back. Bielikm, who only joined Legia Warsaw this past summer in a £9,000 move from Lech Poznan, played six times for the club, with one of those appearances coming in the Europa League.
Bielik only turned 17 on the 4th of January, but despite his young age and professional inexperience, Bielik will be included in the first team squad, which means he'll be in a similar position to Gedion Zelalem: training almost every day with the first team squad, but the likelihood of getting playing time in Premier League and Champions League matches is slim.
Of Bielik, Arsène Wenger feels that the signing was one worth making, saying "he's a defensive midfielder, 6ft 2in [tall], he has a good energy level and technical level. It's a gamble but, on what we saw, it's worth to take the gamble".
