In a mostly quiet first half, Arsenal had the best chance as Gedion Zelalem set up Dan Crowley six yards from goal only for the ex-Villan to sky his shot over the crossbar.

The Young Gunners got on the scoreboard first with a Ainsley Maitland-Niles goal in the 49th minute. The precocious winger (8 days from turning 17!) collected a through ball from Kris Olsson and beat the Derby County keeper, Jonathan Mitchell.

Derby leveled proceedings in the 81st minute through an Alefe Santos penalty kick. Alex Iwobi, who had just replaced Zelalem, was called for a trip in the box.

Arsenal had chances to retake the lead late, but Maitland-Niles and Chuba Akpom were unable to put another past Mitchell.

Arsenal is now level with Derby County with 4 points for top of the table in Division 2 of the Barclays U21 Premier League. As always, stay tuned for more on this match if or when match footage becomes available.
