Liverpool concede defeat in Alexis Sanchez race

According to reports, the Merseyside club have realised that Alexis Sanchez doesn't want to join them.

Liverpool, according to the Liverpool Echo and other news reports, have conceded defeat in their attempts to sign Alexis Sanchez, and fear he will join Arsenal. Not only does this mean Arsenal have a clearer run at Sanchez, but it also means that the transfer of Luis Suarez to Barcelona will now be for £75m in cash, with that transfer likely to preclude Sanchez leaving the Camp Nou.

The Daily Mail (and Mundo Deportivo) report that Sanchez's agent will arrive in London for talks with Arsenal this week, with the club hopeful that a deal will be concluded by the start of next week. Initial discussions on a potential £140,000/week discussion have already taken place, as have discussions with Barcelona to finalise the price Arsenal will pay, thought to be around £30m.

Juventus had hoped that they could hijack Arsenal's bid, but are unable to match Arsenal's offer, both in salary and in price to Barcelona, unless they were to sell either Arturo Vidal or Paul Pogba. Furthermore, it seems Juventus are signing Alvaro Morata and Juan Iturbe, which would seemingly prevent a deal for Sanchez.

Arsenal, then should hopefully be able to complete the deal relatively soon.
