Thomas Eisfeld never quite had the Arsenal career that I'd hoped for. He came in from Borussia Dortmund a few years back as a 19-year-old, and the word on the street was that he'd been a Gotze-esque talent before blowing up his knee as a youngster in 2009. If he could get back to that, he'd be an absolute steal.
Alas, he never quite did, and now he's gone. Arsenal have permanently sold Tommy Ice Rink to Fulham for an undisclosed fee, and he will leave immediately.
Eisfeld made two League Cup appearances, one against Reading in 2012's #weirdsoccer game where Arsenal overturned a 4-0 deficit to win 7-5, and one against West Bromwich Albion last year in which he scored. He was never particularly a standout player, in either of those games or in preseason appearances. But he wasn't really terrible either - you could sort of see the remnants of class in him, but they weren't as close to the surface as they were with, say, Aaron Ramsey. So his chances disappeared, and now he will as well.
Hopefully Fulham will be good to him, and actually getting to play in real games will revive his once-promising career.
