Arsenal Ladies Come From Behind In FA Cup Win

Avenging their UWCL loss to Birmingham City, the Gunners advance to the semifinals.

Everything's coming up roses for the Arsenal Ladies. Remember just a few days ago when I mentioned that Kelly Smith may be injured? Well she's in fine form and scoring goals. Remember when I mentioned that Freda Ayisi might be a up and coming player to keep your eyes on? Well she too is scoring goals, and not just your boring run of the mill goals, I'm talking important, revenge dishing, game winning goals. Now that's big time.

After falling behind to a Birmingham City side that was applying a good bit of pressure to the back line, Arsenal was able to mount a comeback to earn themselves a spot in the FA Cup semifinals once again. The Gunners really seem to be hitting their stride as of late. Key players are finding the back of the net, and those new younger players seem to be stepping up, which will be necessary for Arsenal's success this season. Even some of the big timers that aren't scoring goals are contributing. Danielle Carter is in a bit of a slump scoring wise, but her assist on Ayisi's goal was the very essence of calm, cool, and collected.

Up next in the FA Cup, Arsenal has a semifinal matchup with Chelsea next Sunday, May 11th.  Should Arsenal continue their defense of the FA Cup, they would meet up with the winner of Notts County Ladies vs Everton Ladies.  Notts County would be looking for their first ever FA Cup trophy, with Everton looking for their third FA Cup victory. The FA Women's Cup final will be Sunday, June 1st.
