According to an article in the Guardian this morning, Arsene Wenger will stay on as Arsenal's manager, set to sign a new three-year deal believed to be worth £24 million. The announcement comes after months of will-he-quit-or-won't-he speculation, and as further speculation had it, hinged on the outcome of Saturday's FA Cup Finals.

As the Telegraph notes (in an article that also delves heavily into transfer talk and £100 million warchest talk), the new contract will extend Wenger's tenure with the club into a third decade, vaulting him into an exclusive 20 years or more club with a pair of legendary Manchester United managers (Sir Alex Ferguson and Matt Busby) and Dario Gradi, who spent 24 years at the helm of League One's Crewe Alexandra.

Before the news turns into summer transfer talk -- and clearly, the English media is hungry to take it in that direction -- let's just take a moment to appreciate how transformative Wenger's been to the club since his arrival, and how rare a tenure like Wenger's is in an era of impatient owners and disposable managers. Sorry, Oddschecker, but your "Next Arsenal Manager" page is going to be collecting cobwebs for a few more years.
