Arsenal transfer bingo: Salomon Kalou loan bid turned down

There are certain names to always be linked to Arsenal.  Hell, they could be long and retired and someone will breathlessly report their impending arrival at London Colney.  I'm sure you all know the names quite well by now.

Sebastien Frey.  Yoann Gourcuff.  Yann M'Vila.  And, of course, Salomon Kalou.

Before he signed at Chelsea in 2006, he was heavily-linked with a move to Arsenal.  During his six seasons at Stamford Bridge, he was rumored to be on the move to Arsenal in nearly every transfer window that eventually shut with his stay at Chelsea secured.  Before he was purchased by Lille, there were rumors that Arsene Wenger wanted the Ivorian, and it only makes sense now that Arsenal, it was rumored, attempted to secure a loan move for Kalou, but was turned away:
