We're more than half way through the January transfer window, and thankfully, the SPEND MONEY NOW ARSENE crowd is busy, I don't know, yelling at slow pedestrians in crosswalks or something. At any rate, Arsenal haven't done much, although there have been a few rumors; today's fresh hot rumor is of a young French striker, Paul-Georges Ntep, who is reportedly on the verge of signing a contract with Arsenal for a rumored €10 million (£8.3 million).
And it's not just Arseblog reporting it, either - according to French site auxerretv.com, and I quote:
Arsenal is the rope that held a contract for five years and 10 million euros for the transfer
You can't make this stuff up, people. But Google Translate can. Auxerre is in some financial difficulty at the moment, and is looking to offload some of its more expensive talent, and Ntep is a very talented lad indeed. He's young, but not "five years from now he'll be good" young, and he's a player who could hopefully make a difference sooner rather than later.
About Auxerre's financial troubles, auxerretv.com goes on to say
In a word, nothing is officially recorded, nothing is done, but the mayonnaise begins to take on all fronts.
And I think we all know, once the mayonnaise begins to take, there's no stopping it.
