I am thrilled that the transfer season is almost over, because that means I won't have to keep writing things like "Arsenal are in for (this guy who may not actually be available or willing to move) for (this amount of money)" over and over and over again. But here we are, still in the window, and today's news from Spain is that, at least according to Marca (which, by the way, is Spanish for "vested interest"), Arsenal have decided Angel Di Maria is "The Chosen One" (I mean, seriously, it's right there in his name, really), and are preparing a bid rumored to be in the £25 million range.
Now, again, take this with a really large grain of salt - there's the obvious fact that Marca is effectively the mouthpiece of Real Madrid, there's the fact that the story contains no actual, attributable quotes or sources, and there's the fact that Di Maria is someone Arsenal have been looking at for a while. All of which means that in some Marca story-pitch meeting this morning, some dude went "Hey boss, it's not much but why don't I write this up?" and his boss said "Sure, why not, nothing else is happening."
So here we are - Arsenal are in for Di Maria, they may or may not throw a lot of money at Real Madrid for him, and it may or may not happen this week. The more you know!
