In an audacious stunt that was basically hanging a banner on a stadium (in fairness it was an awesome banner, but WHERE'S CESC, ARSENE), Arsenal unveiled their new away kit for the upcoming season today. You've already seen it, probably, but now you can see it on actual players in photographs, rather than in crappy leaked ads and possibly-Photoshopped pictures.

Here it is.

Yes, as rumored, it is blue and yellow. It resembles the away kit worn by the Invincibles a decade ago, but with one key change - the socks are about 75% more boss.

Despite the fact that the yellow in the shirt is bright as all hell and I find collars on soccer shirts to be relatively uncomfortable, I really like them. They just generally look good, and they're a good change kit compared to the red-and-whites we wear for the main kit (remember last year's home kit will be used again this year). I'll probably buy one. I'll definitely buy the socks.

The rumored "audacious stunt," by the way, was a banner. Hung over the existing one on the outside of the Emirates Stadium (the one with Arsenal legends arm in arm that circles the stadium), it showed members of the team's British youth movement, in a similar pose.

While as a non-British person I really don't care what country we get our players from, I think this was pretty cool. Just as long as we don't have to wait too long to see Mikel Arteta and Olivier Giroud in them. Because...come on.

UPDATE: The official site has posted about the new kit, with some specifics about when they will go on sale and things like that. Additionally there's a picture slideshow, if you want to stare at soccer players wearing new clothes for hours, from every imaginable angle.
