Nobody knows where, though, so don't get too excited.

Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain has, for a while, been allegedly on the way out at the Bernabeu. Arsenal, among others, have been linked with the Argentinian, but it hasn't been clear whether there was any fire where the "Higuain out" smoke was coming from. Now there is.

So yeah, that's unusually clear. Higuain went on to say that he hoped the club "does the best for me, and for them" and that he actually wanted to leave last year, but stayed "for the fans, my coach...and for my teammates."

John Cross reported a few weeks ago that Arsenal had heavy interest in Higuain, in particular if the rumored interest in Stevan Jovetic of Fiorentina fell through. According to him, Arsenal want to pay £18 million, and Madrid want £22 million. Of course, Real Madrid's president claims that no contact has yet been made - but it makes a lot more sense that he would have reason to obfuscate the situation than it does that Cross is outright wrong. I think.

Either way, how it shakes out is that there are several teams with pretty sure interest in Higuain, and now that he's officially looking to leave, that's probably only going to get worse. Arsenal and Juventus are surely possibilities and have been the most heavily linked; also, Higuain mentioned Juventus as a possibility today. Both teams have also been heavily linked with Jovetic, so if the prices are right, it would make sense that one team would bring in one player, and the other player would end up with the other team. Of course there are more than two teams in the world - remember what I was saying yesterday about transfers being hard? - so it's not that simple. Cross said in that same article that Manchester City tried to sign Higuain last year, and Chelsea has a shot if Higuain really likes Jose Mourinho that much. I'm not sure how a person could, but I haven't met the man. Perhaps he smells nice.

Anyway, there are going to be a bunch of teams interested in Higuain, because he is super good at soccer. If I had to guess I would say that I still feel more confident about Jovetic than I do about Higuain, but it appears that there are going to be a lot of top-level strikers available this summer. We might manage to end up with one, but it's probably going to take a while to pull the whole thing together. HELLO HELLO MR WANGER?
