Arsenal pulled out a great 4-1 win over Wigan Athletic today, and everything seemed to be setting up well for Sunday's season closer at St. James Park in Newcastle, until Arsene Wenger dropped kind of a bombshell in his post-match press conference:
Wenger: "Arteta pulled his calf. He is a massive doubt for Sunday." #AFCvWAFC

This is obviously a massive blow for Arsenal if it comes to pass. Mikel Arteta has been a stalwart conductor for Arsenal from the deeper parts of the midfield for two years now, and if he can't go, it means that most likely Jack Wilshere or Tomas Rosicky will go alongside Aaron Ramsey in the final match. Neither offers quite as much defensive intelligence (especially Wilshere) back there, so hopefully Arteta can recover in time. If not, the Newcastle match just took on an interesting aspect that I really wish it had not.
