Injury Report: Sagna, Podolski May Be Available for Man City Tilt

New, comments

Depending on how today's fitness test went, Bacary Sagna will be ready to help face the Arsenal title rivals tomorrow at the Etihad. And Podolski's not much farther behind.

There's good news out of the Arsenal camp today -- Bacary Sagna is likely to return to the field for tomorrow's match against Manchester City at Etihad Stadium. In his pre-match press conference, Arsene Wenger indicated that the right back will be in the mix against Sergio Aguero, Yaya Toure, and the rest of a City side that's been very, very good at home.

Wenger said:

The main doubt we have is about Sagna, who will have a test [on Friday] and after that I will make the decision about whether I take him with us or not. I am optimistic but it's my nature.

Wenger also had encouraging news about Lukas Podolski's return -- based on his comment, Poldi may be on the bench against City, and then truly, fully available for matches afterward, including the crucial home match vs. Chelsea on the 23rd.

He is available. I feel he is still a bit short to go into a match of that level of intensity but after this weekend I will consider him to be available.

Yet, after days of happily tweeting and Instagramming his inevitable return, Podolski's being comparatively coy on the Interwebs today, merely giving a birthday shoutout to his boy Santi Cazorla:

Oh, and he's also dorking it up with Santi and Mesut in support of Munster Rugby:

POLDI UPDATE: Instagramming with Frimpong. All is well. #aha
