Sure, this is a Twitter status that's prompted the post, but BBC's David Ornstein has put himself out on the line and is now reporting that Arsenal is trying desperately to sign cover at left back now that first-choice Kieran Gibbs was ruled out for at least three weeks with a thigh strain suffered in yesterday's 2-2 draw versus Liverpool.
Arsenal working hard to sign left-back before deadline. Likely to happen. Never say never on David Villa, but unlikely #bbctransfernews #afc

If true, this should help ease the worries of many supporters who've been biting their fingernails off at the prospects of Andre Santos for the next few matches, including the crucial Champions League matches versus Bayern Munich. This makes sense on so many levels; Jernade Meade is currently hurt and has played exactly one first-team match in his young career and Andre Santos is, well, Andre Santos.
We'll continue to track this piece of news throughout the day, but there's at least noise emanating from the club that Arsenal, and Arsene Wenger, might be active after all today.
