Arsenal injury news: Szczesny out, Diaby available

ouchie!
ouchie!

Arsene Wenger has revealed that Wojciech Szczesny will be unavailable for tomorrow's Champions League match against Montpellier HSC with an ankle injury:

I don't think [his injury was a factor in Saturday's performance]. He did it before the game. I am not sure how it affected the goal he conceded. He says not but of course we had a question in our minds before the game: do we change him or not? We decided to leave him on.

More after the jump:

Lukasz Fabianski is also injured, so that means the return of "Don" Vito Mannone to the starting role in between the sticks for Arsenal. Normal no. 4 keeper Damien Martinez isn't eligible for Arsenal's "B" list (you all read Thomas' post about the composition of the Champions League squads, right?), so hey, presto! Arsenal's number FIVE goalkeeper, James Shea, will be the backup for Mannone tomorrow:

He was on the list as goalkeeper No 5 at the beginning of the season and now he is No 2! That shows you how quickly football can change. Martinez is ineligible for the B list and Wojciech [Szczesny] and Fabianski are injured. So Mannone will play tomorrow.

Well, then. Mannone looked solid enough in Arsenal's matches against Stoke and Liverpool, and hopefully that form can continue.

In other news, Abou Diaby is on the 18-man list for Montpellier, at the expense of a certain Meerkat (Andrei Arshavin). That list in full is:

Vito Mannone
James Shea
Carl Jenkinson
Kieran Gibbs
Thomas Vermaelen
Per Mertesacker
Laurent Koscielny
Abou Diaby
Mikel Arteta
Santi Cazorla
Francis Coquelin
Aaron Ramsey
Theo Walcott
Andre Santos
Olivier Giroud
Gervinho
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
Lukas Podolski
