Arsenal Ladies 3 - 1 Gothenberg Ladies, match report: Champions League resumes with a win

[Ed. note: this is the first post in what will be as much coverage of Arsenal Ladies as we can provide. It is difficult, as the matches are not filmed or streamed anywhere most of the time, but that is no excuse. We have had plans in place for some time to start providing information about Arsenal Ladies, but we have been woefully behind in getting the ball rolling. Apologies for that. We are going to make the most of what's out there going forward, as the Ladies are one of the top European sides and deserve far more recognition than they get. Anything we can do to rectify that, we will.]

2 - 1 Kim Little PK 75'
3 - 1 Ellen White 83' approx.

Arsenal Ladies, who opened their season with a win away to Lincoln in the Super League on Sunday, won the first leg of their UEFA Womens Champions League quarterfinal tie with Swedish club Gothenberg today by a final score of 3-1 at Borehamwood. An early strike from Lisa Ek was rectified fifteen minutes later when Jane Ludlow headed down Ellen White's cross for Jordan Nobbs to apply the finish. The two sides remained deadlocked until prolific midfielder Kim Little put home a penalty, and then provided the pass for Ellen White to smash home a third before full time.

The second leg of the tie in Gothenberg is scheduled for Wednesday the 21st. The team's next fixture is this weekend away to Liverpool in the FA Womens Super League Continental Cup.
