This morning, Twitter practically caught on fire with little hints, and then bigger hints, that something is afoot with Andrei Arshavin moving to Zenit St. Petersburg on a loan deal. First was this from Jamie Sanderson of the tremendous Young Guns (a very reliable source):
But that was pretty noncommittal, and not sourcing anyone in particular. Arsene Wenger had much to say about it in his press conference.
But then Sky Sports got involved, and everyone got worried again:
There has still been no official confirmation as of right now, but there is some time left. In the interim, this came out, too:
So that's neat. Or not at all neat. We'll all just have to wait and see what happens, but letting Arshavin escape on loan at a time when Arsenal's midfield is thin is a curious allowance by the club. We don't have all the information about what's going on behind the scenes, obviously, but it's still a bit worrying. (Not that Arshavin was ever going to play in the middle, mind, probably).
More word hopefully coming one way or the other later on today.
In other news, Denilson might be staying in Brazil for a bit longer:
So we'll have to wait and see.
