Olympiacos vs. Arsenal
Tuesday, December 4, 2:45 PM EST/11.45AM PST
Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium, Piraeus, Greece
Form (all competitions): OLY WLDWW | ARS WWDDL
TV: FoxSoccer2Go (live, subscription-only), Fox Soccer Channel (delayed, 7PM East/4PM West)
I gotta be honest; given that we're resting our first team regulars tonight in anticipation of this weekend's clash versus West Brom and our advancement into the coveted Round of 16, I don't care in the least if Arsenal get destroyed tonight, as long we get the kids some run and experience. I recently held a viewpoint opposite of this, but that was before our squad decided to score only but a single league goal in 180+ consecutive minutes and, in the process, only take two of 6 possible points in just a seven day time span. Right now, we should simply be happy to have made it past the group stage and worry about our quarterfinal opponent at a later date and time.
So anyway, the biggest victories that come out of today's match won't have anything to do with the final score. Let's enjoy the match for what it's providing - a sneak peak at some of our future first-team players and relief knowing gassed players like Santi Cazorla and Mikel Arteta are back home and resting. The lineups:
Arsenal: Szczesny, Jenkinson, Squillaci, Vermaelen, Meade, Coquelin, Rosicky, Ramsey, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Chamakh, Gervinho
Subs: Szczesny, Jenkinson, Squillaci, Vermaelen, Meade, Coquelin, Rosicky, Ramsey, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Chamakh, Gervinho
Olympiakos: Carroll, Diakite, Manolas, Contreras, Torosidis, Paulo Machado, Maniatis, Fejsa, Greco, Djebbour, Abdoun.
