Arsenal supporters have become rightfully resentful of international friendlies lately, because people fear what bites them on the rear end continually, apparently. Who knew? Anyhow, all of Arsenal's players who went away midweek to play in matches with absolutely no meaning for anyone ever seem to have returned no worse for wear, including Santi Cazorla who flew halfway around the world for a match he didn't play in. The flight was probably nice, though.
Carl Jenkinson made his debut for England, which is pretty cool, unless you are Finnish, in which case, it's probably considerably less cool. Jack Wilshere also put in a short stint at the end of the match; both were present to watch Zlatan Ibrahimovic do silly things to remind people that he is basically a Martian.
Anyhow, there is a little thing called the North London Derby this weekend, and there is some team news ahead of it.
- The long-termers Kieran Gibbs, Tomas Rosicky, and Abou Diaby are still out.
- Theo Walcott, Wojciech Szczesny, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain face late fitness tests to see if they'll be ready. (
Please let the latter two, at least, be ready, please). [EDIT: I mean let all of them be healthy, but especially the wings.]
- Bacary Sagna faces a test to make sure he's not just plum tuckered out.
Also, random Arsenal International fact: Nicklas Bendtner scored from the penalty spot against Turkey yesterday. "Yay?"
So anyhow, there shall be more Arsenal vs. Tottenham news as the game draws nearer. As always, stay tuned!
