Park Chu-Young scores hat trick for South Korea b/w Arsenal internationals open thread

FORTY-ONE INCHES
FORTY-ONE INCHES

Good morning, everybody. With a number of international fixtures up and running today, this is the place to comment on all the action that is going on.

A quick roundup of the Gunners who have had fixtures already:

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain put in an excellent shift for the England U21s yesterday as they crushed Azerbaijan 6-0. He looked lively for his 76 minute shift and played a big part in both of...

...Henri Lansbury's goals for the side. Lansbury, of course, is on loan now at Championship side West Ham United, but this kind of form can only be good for his development. Hopefully he can continue to improve his game and challenge for a spot in Arsenal's midfield down the road.

Park Chu-Young did serious work in his World Cup qualifier against Lebanon, scoring a hat-trick to help his nation win 6-0. His first was a quite nice redirected volley as he came flying in from the right; his second an unstoppable header from a corner kick (one thing we didn't mention during all the news on Wednesday is that he has a FORTY-ONE INCH VERTICAL*), and his third absolutely fizzed in low at the far post from 15 yards.

Please, Mr. Park: keep this up.

Other Gunners in action today include:

Yossi Benayoun in Israel vs. Greece (underway right now)

Per Mertesacker in Germany vs. Austria (245 PM EDT)

Theo Walcott in Bulgaria vs. England (215 PM)

Aaron Ramsey in Wales vs. Montenegro (245)

Laurent Koscielny and Bacary Sagna in Albania vs. France (300)

Andrei Arshavin in Russia vs. Macedonia (1200)

Robin van Persie in Netherlands vs. San Marino (230)

Wojciech Szczesny in Poland vs. Mexico (friendly)

Thomas Vermaelen in Azerbaijan vs. Belgium (1200)

Feel free to comment on all the action throughout the day.

* FORTY-ONE INCH VERTICAL. My god. Derrick Rose has a 41" vertical.
