Rangers Sign Kyle Bartley on Loan

A day after signing a new contract at Arsenal, Kyle Bartley returns to Rangers on a season-long loan, who had signed the 20 year old on loan for the latter part of last season before Bartley suffered a season ending knee surgery.

The move will disappoint some who thought that Bartley would be a better 4th choice centre back than Sebastien Squillaci. At 6'3 and a veteran of the Championship, he certainly possesses some of those typical "English" centre back qualities, but, last Sunday proved himself to also be a strong tackler and a good reader of the game, as well as having a quick first step. While it's disappointing to see him go, it'll be good for him to get minutes in Scotland and in the Europa League as well (providing Rangers qualify), and it could mean that Wenger is on the verge of completing a move for either Phil Jagielka, Chris Samba or Gary Cahill.

It is unclear if there is a provision for Bartley to return to Arsenal before his loan period is up, in case of emergency.
